Music icon Morrissey has launched a stinging rebuke against the politically correct state of the United Kingdom, asserting that “free speech no longer exists” and blaming totalitarian leftists for censoring art and policing opinion.
The former Smiths front man posted a long diatribe to his website after the Independent, a left-wing newspaper, smeared him as a bigot for approving of a man waving a Union Jack flag at one of his performances and accusing him of “loving Brexit”.
The article also suggested Morrissey was racist for pointing out the clear connection between increased migration and the sexual assault of women in European cities and for decrying Chinese people for mistreating animals.
Morrissey hit back with a huge rant in which he savaged both the newspaper and the politically correct attitude it represents.
“Telford grooming gangs? Hardly worth a whisper in The Independent,” he wrote. “Instead let’s demonize Morrissey – who deserves our indefatigable abuse since he appears to be saying some things that many people are actually thinking.”
The singer went on to assert that the newspaper thinks its role is to “supervise and censor art” by destroying “anyone with a view that doesn’t match their own.”
Turning to Brexit, Morrissey said the UK’s vote to leave the EU had “been a strike for democracy because of the disgust that the political elite had shown towards the people who did not vote the way that they were warned to by media bullies.”
“Almost two years on from the result, the EU still has not allowed the UK to leave its clutches – which simply explains exactly why the Leave campaigners voted as they did in the first place,” he added.
Mozza then castigated a “modern, shredded British society, where free speech no longer exists,” and where the media demonizes huge swathes of the population by calling them “racist”.
“Use of the word often only ever comes from people who themselves are intolerant. It works. Even though England introduced the world to democracy, great art and great literature, it is now leading the way with a dark and largely hidden agenda where no one is entitled to disagree; only one interest and opinion must prevail within the print media,” he writes.
Clarifying his political beliefs, the former Smiths singer stated, “I believe England can look after itself. It does not need the EU to police its laws, its thought, its borders or its liberty. It does not take a genius to arrive at this viewpoint.”
Morrissey said the Guardian and the Independent’s “intolerant and totalitarian criticism of others reveals so much about themselves,” before encouraging people to get their information from “alternative news outlets”.
“British mainstream media is now so politically correct that basic truth is actually impossible, and although it is obsessed with promoting social diversity they will not accept diverse opinion,” he concludes.
In the war of words between Morrissey and left-wing newspapers like the Independent, there is only one winner.
While the Independent was forced to end its print edition in 2016 as part of a slow decline, Morrissey is still packing out major venues such as Alexandra Palace, The London Palladium, Brixton Academy and the Royal Albert Hall even as he nears the age of 60.
Given that he has already achieved monumental success and taken on living legend status, Mozza is also beyond the reach of leftist witch hunt mobs who would use his words against him to destroy his career.
This is why they hate Morrissey and in an age of talentless drone celebrities who daren’t utter a single word not pre-approved by the thought police, this is why we need him more than ever.
