Alex covers the latest revelations on the increased risk of autism in children linked to the MMR vaccine. In late August, a doctor with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention went public on information withheld by the federal agency on a relationship between the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine and autism.
The revelation surfaced as the government continues to attack the legitimacy of a growing anti-vaccine movement. Alex talks about the danger of vaccines with Dr. Andy Wakefield in-studio. Wakefield, a British former surgeon and medical researcher, left the Royal Free Hospital after he was criticized by the medical establishment for his research demonstrating a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.
