The government when investigating a crime can lie, cheat, commit fraud, even commit assaults, even steal in order to catch a defendant. But it can only do those thing to the defendant it id trying to catch. It cannot to it to a third party … the FBI violated copyright law, they violated trademark law, they violated state and federal law that prohibit using the internet to commit a fraud.
